Facebook's NEW Public Search Listings

In a couple of weeks Facebook's 39 million profile pages will be more visible within search engines such as Google, MSN Live, Yahoo, etc. Facebook is releasing "Public Search Listings" to people not logged on in order to increase connectivity. This allows non-members to search for friends or family more easily and decide whether or not it is worth their time to join.

There should not be any privacy issues due to the fact that Facebook gives 100% control to members over their public search listing. Included in this listing could be a member's name, thumbnail version of their profile picture, links for Facebook members to send you messages, view your friends, poke you or add you to their friend list.

In the past, 25,000 profiles have been searched which accounted for 0.064% of member profiles. Facebook's SEO Facelift will hopefully increase these numbers.
